The new Smart-Fly PowerSystem family is our
all-in-one power distribution line for use with lithium-ion
or lithium-polymer battery packs. The have all the
features of our popular PowerExpander family plus they incorporate
regulator(s) for lithium battery packs and other features
not found on our PowerExpander family.
The Smart-Fly PowerSystem Sport Plus is an all-in-one
unit for 40cc-85cc gas engine aircraft using lithium-ion
or lithium-polymer battery packs. The unit has
a built in, fixed 6.0-volt, 5-amp continuous regulator
that can supply up to 15 amp momentary peaks. The
unit supports dual batteries and has full battery protection
where if a battery pack looses a cell or shorts it will
be isolated and the good pack will continue to power
the plane. The unit also supports an optional failsafe
switch which, when used, reduces the weight versus using
two heavy-duty switches. The unit also has
a built-in Ignition Cutoff unit for the gas engine electronic
ignition. A jumper selects the Ignition Cutoff
receiver channel by jumpering the receiver channel to
the Ignition Cutoff control input. The unit has
a filtered 5.0-volt, 1-amp regulator for the receiver,
which is separate from the servo regulator. This
provides extra protection for the 2.4GHz spread-spectrum
receivers. The unit has full RF filtering built
in on the receiver and servo connections. LEDs
show the status of the servo power and the receiver power. All
servo signal outputs are fully buffered with line matching
to drive long servo leads.

PowerSystem Eq6
PowerSystem Eq6Turbo
The PowerSystem Eq6 combines three Smart-Fly products into one compact, light system. The unit has eight channels, six of which have the Equalizer (servo matching) function built into them. The unit uses Deans Ultra Plug connectors for power and accepts power from two 2-cell Li-ion or Li-poly batteries. The unit has a built in BatShare to protect against one bad battery affecting the other battery. Power for the receiver is brought straight from the battery connector to a filter and regulator that supplies clean 5.0V power to the receiver. The servo regulator is adjustable from 5.5V to 6.5V and is connected by a large power bus to the servo output connectors resulting in no voltage drop due to wiring or connector resistance. The PowerSystem Eq6 comes in two flavors, standard and Turbo. The standard version is designed for 85cc to 140cc size planes and the regulator can supply 7.5 amps of continuous current with 15 amp peaks. The Turbo version is meant for 150cc and larger size planes and the regulator can supply 17.5 amps of continuous current with 35 amp peaks. The unit also includes our Ignition Cutoff as a built-in feature. This provides an optically isolated ignition kill function for gas engines with electronic ignition modules. We also sell the units without the Cutoff receiver module and fiber-optic cable for jet applications.
